Our Dream Stocking Fillers…

Posted by gen on Nov 25 2009 | SIP

Of course we’d love it if everyone’s stocking was filled with bottles of sip, but we also know that there are plenty of incredible goodies floating around so we’ve listed some of our favourites - the kind of ones Kate & I are really lusting after (and are pretty sure Santa won’t bring… but we can dream right?)

Gen’s Dream Stocking:

daria-macbook-sleeve.bmpMulberry for Apple: Mulberry have designed a range of bags modified especially for Apple products. We here in the sip office have a little crush on the hot pink MacBook Sleeve - the colour, the gorgeous gold Mulberry buckle, the fact it’s the perfect office to party clutch and not to mention the oohs and ahhs you’re bound to get when you whip it out in a meeting - never have I wanted to go to so many meetings: http://www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c5658/4225/

Alexander McQueen Clutches: This man can do a clutch - all of his bags are works of art and by adding in knuckle duster rings or a glove built in to the bag there’s no way we’d be putting these down- how many can I pop into my dream stocking? 2? 3?

ronda-shoe-louboutin.bmpChristian Louboutin Ronda Dina Shoe -in the words of Carrie Bradshaw “hello lover…”

jake-gyllenhall.jpgand Jake Gyllenhaal to hand it all to me… well, it is my dream stocking afterall!

Kate’s Dream Stocking:

smythson-soho-diary.bmpA Smythson Soho Diary… “there simply is no other diary to have”

lady-lynch-louboutins.bmpLouboutin Lady Lynch heel - “the picture really doesn’t do it justice… these are very, very beautiful shoes, and at 14cm that’s almost half a ruler to walk on…”

caleb-kings-of-leon.bmpAnd to top it all off, Caleb from the Kings of Leon… now where’s that stocking?

Does drinking water really help your skin glow?

Posted by sipdrinkblog on Nov 23 2009 | Health

A question we (and many of the other water brands) get asked every now and then when someone releases an article stating that water ‘may not be good for you’… it’s been an argument that has been going on for years - a nutritionist will come out and say that there isnt any firm evidence water helps your skin….firm being the all important word as there isnt any firm evidence it doesnt either (and the two of us loved and believed in the power of water before working here)

Having looked through some of the more recent articles we would absolutely back their theories that a good diet and sun-screen are also major factors to younger more glowing skin but there is enough counter evidence to suggest that drinking water (rather than sugar filled drinks) everyday can only be good for you.

As well as containing water, sip has a number of antioxidants and extracts that have ‘known’ benefits for the skin but at the end of the day, sip is healthy and if you like drinking it, then enjoy it whatever the scientists say!  Speaking from experience, I know that I feel awful if I don’t drink enough water each day – so they can say all they want about it working or not working, we love water, it works for us and we love having sip as an alternative to coffee or sugary drinks and when you just want something a little more exciting than water.

Since writing this blog we found another article that brings up the topic well - it’s an interesting read and we believe its fair to get both sides of the debate so check it out here:

we’d love to know what you think about the topic! leave us a message and let us know.

sip go for a boogie with a new band

Posted by gen on Nov 09 2009 | SIP

Last Friday Kate, aka Mrs sip, had a spare ticket to a band called The Airborne Toxic Event at the Shepherds Bush Empire around the corner from our little office. We decided after a long week of label design (news coming soon…!) we deserved a night out so after few Mojitos at a nearby Brazilian bar we headed over to the gig. Kate was already a fan but as i’d not heard their stuff (and am not a cool enough regular ‘gig’ goer) so was unsure as to how I would fake my excitement for over an hour if I didnt like it…perhaps a cider or two would help…and maybe I could flap my arms around erratically to show my appreciation?!

We found our seats up at the top level which had a surprisingly great view - the joy of smaller venues! I was still a little nervous about how I would manage to stay standing for an hour let alone bopping along to a band I’d never heard of…

We sat down with a bottle of water and a cup of cider - perfect gig watching supplies, and the next thing I knew it had been an hour and half! No faking it needed as I totally loved them, they were fun, friendly and genuinely loved what they were doing. I was mesmerised  by the chick in the band who played the violin every now and then as well as brilliantly stomping around the stage with a tamborine, singing and playing the keyboard - impressive stuff!

a little pic of the band!

My favourite songs were Sometime Around Midnight and Gasoline which you can see here courtesy of lovely youtube:

I def recommend you check them out and next time someone asks you to try something you’ve never done before, like going to a gig (or trying sip for the first time perhaps?) ive realised its all about being open to having fun and doing it with a smile on your face. I’m looking forward to trying more new things and reporting back on my adventures!

As always, sip happy x

Get some texture this season

Posted by sipdrinkblog on Nov 03 2009 | Fashion, Trends, beauty

Here in our little sip office we are huge fans of Grazia daily, the daily feed from Grazia Magazine, and they’ve been hero-ing texture as this seasons must have - on everything from clothes to hair and seen on everyone from Fearne Cotton to Dannii Minogue to Megan Fox.

We have to agree that a little bit of texture goes a long way - taking straight hair from flat to fab. You could create warmth and femininity ala Victoria Beckham

or add an 80s kick with crimping tongs ala Danni Minogue.

When it comes to texture and clothes you cant go wrong with a little bit of high street. Think soft suede, slinky leather and rich velvet in a whole host of colours and styles. H&M have some incredible faux fur coats (#1 below) and gillets, Topshop have a never-ending number of cardigans, tights (image #2 below), skirts (see image #3 Ostrich Skirt below) and jumpers where texture is king. Zara are vamping things up with their Autumn/Winter range featuring fur, leather and feathers. And of course, All Saints never fail to deliver an array of texture-ful beauties. Keep it simple with a statement piece and you’ll have texture perfection.
